Georeferenced information is perceived much better if it is structured and displayed on a map. A TV-map is a way to answer the questions «where» and «how» quickly and clearly. It appears on air if we need to explain a process or phenomenon: for example, to show the trajectory of tropical hurricanes in the Atlantic or the geography of the countries participating in the economic forum.

UMG cartography department includes 15 specialists under the direction of Ilya Popov. On average a department produces one TV-map per hour, 21 maps per day and about 700 per month. Such rates are necessary in order to serve the broadcasting of television channels.
